How to Buy and Set Up Your First Web3 Domain: The Complete Step-by-Step Guide

The internet is evolving, and Web3 domains are at the heart of this change. Unlike traditional domains that depend on centralized registrars like GoDaddy, Web3 domains are built on blockchain technology. This gives you true ownership of your domain, no middlemen, no renewals, and complete control over your online identity. It’s a simple but powerful shift toward decentralization.

If you’ve ever wanted to create a personal website, launch a crypto project, or simplify your wallet address, owning a Web3 domain is a great place to start. These domains can serve as your universal identity across Web3 platforms, allowing you to send and receive crypto, host decentralized websites, and connect multiple online profiles under one secure name.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the complete process of buying and setting up your first Web3 domain. From choosing the right provider and connecting your crypto wallet to configuring your domain for different uses, you’ll learn each step in detail. By the end, you’ll be ready to manage your own blockchain-based domain and take your first step into the decentralized web.

What is Web3 Domain in Simple Words?

A Web3 domain is a type of domain name that lives on the blockchain instead of traditional servers. It works like a normal website address but gives you full ownership and control no one can take it down or change it without your permission.

For example, instead of having a regular domain like mywebsite.com, you could have a Web3 domain like myname.crypto or myname.eth. These domains can be used for websites, crypto wallets, or even as your digital identity.

Let’s say your Web3 domain is ahmed.crypto. Someone could send you cryptocurrency just by using that name—no long wallet address needed. You can also link it to your decentralized website or use it to log in to Web3 apps securely.

Best Platform To Buy Web3 Domain

There are many platforms available to buy Web3 domains, but I recommend only the top three that I personally use for my clients’ domains and my own projects.

  1. Unstoppable Domains
  2. Freename
  3. Endless Domains

How to Buy Web3 Domain Step by Step

As you know, there are many platforms to buy Web3 domains. In this blog, I’m using Endless Domains to demonstrate the process. I’ve also included screenshots for better understanding. The steps are very simple, and since most platforms follow a similar process, you can use this same guide to buy domains on other platforms as well.

Step 1: Create a Account

First, you need to create an account on Endless Domain. You can also sign up with Google for easy login, but it is not recommended.

Step 2: Search Domain

After creating your account, search for the domain name you want. In my case, I searched for “cryptoahmed”, as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 3: Select Domain

On this page, you’ll see several domain options with different extensions such as .og, .crypto, .nft, .wallet, and more. Each extension has a different price for example, .crypto costs $40 and .nft costs $20. In my case, I chose the .og extension because it was the most affordable option at just $2.

Step 4: Click Checkout

Next, select the domain you want, add it to your cart, and click Checkout to proceed with the purchase.

Step 5: Select Payment Method

Next, choose your payment method. There are two options available: card payment, which is the most common, and crypto payment. I chose the crypto payment option because it’s more secure.

Step 6: Select Coin

Please select a coin for payment. I selected USDC because it is equal to 1 US dollar. You can also select BTC or another coin.

Step 7: Select Network Chain

Next, select the network for your USDC payment. I chose the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) network. This step is very important—make sure you select the correct network. If you send the payment using a different chain, your funds will be permanently lost, and there’s no way to recover them.

Step 8: Final Step Confirm Payment

In the final step, scan the QR code using your mobile device to confirm the payment and network chain. After a few minutes, your payment will be automatically verified on the blockchain, and your domain name will be successfully purchased.
